What is a starter post & do I need one?
A starter post is normally used at the beginning of a new fencing or screening run. If your installation starts from an open end rather than joining onto an existing post or structure, you will usually need one. If you are unsure, contact us before ordering and we can point you in the right direction.
What type of fencing do I currently have?
If you are replacing an existing fence, it helps to identify the current style first. Look at the panel type, post type, rail layout and overall finish. Matching what is already there can make ordering easier, while upgrading to a different style may affect measurements, posts and fittings.
How long is my garden?
The most accurate way is to measure each straight fence line separately with a tape measure. If your garden changes direction, treat each section as its own run. If you do not have a tape measure, modern phone tools and map apps can give you a useful estimate, but for final ordering a tape measure or site survey is always the better option.
How to dig a fence post hole
Fence post holes need to be deep enough and wide enough to support the post properly. The exact depth will depend on the height and style of fencing you are installing, but careful layout, straight alignment and solid fixing are all important if you want a long-lasting result.
How do I maintain my fencing, screening or decking?
Maintenance depends on the product you choose, but regular cleaning, checking fixings, keeping surfaces clear of debris and treating timber products when needed will all help extend the life and appearance of your installation.
